Been tinkering with it off and on since I bought the bike in February of 98. The total amount of time to do the work is equivalent to about 2 or 3 weeks, tops.
Most of the aftermarket stuff is Harley Davidson oriented. You can get the turn signals at any shop that sells HD parts, same with the fishtail pipe and the leather covers. The sheetmetal paint was from my local Kubota tractor dealership, $7.40 per can (2), the engine paint is Chevrolet red-orange 500 degree spray paint from Walmart's auto department. The blue dot came from Autozone, and isn't really worth the hassle. The best place to get the muffler is either an aftermarket HD catalog or from a street rod shop.
There is still some tinkering to do, like being able to run it off choke, as it will stumble quite badly with the choke knob all the way in. I suppose I could pull the white spacer and rejet the carb, but I don't like fooling with carbs of any kind. The paint needs some touch up due to riding near too many gravel trucks, and it still needs a brake job, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with it.
Total cost of the aftermarket equipment was around $300, and the hardest parts to do are chrome trimming all the sheetmetal and wiring in the plate frame and rear turn signals.

PS: If I was going to redo the exhaust again, I'd get the fishtail covered Supertrapp like the Panzer Motorcyle uses. Would be a much easier install with the Savage's goofy headerpipe angle at the muffler joint area.
